Welcome Sesame is a global initiative to deliver comfort and learning to young children and caregivers affected by crisis and displacement. More than 400 million children live in areas affected by violent conflict, and 35 million have been forcibly displaced. Research shows that, if children have access to quality early childhood development, they can overcome adversity and build a brighter future. That’s why, from the Middle East to North Africa, from Bangladesh to Latin America to the US, Welcome Sesame meets children and families on screens, in classrooms and community centers and beyond, bringing early learning and nurturing care to families affected by crisis and supporting young children in the narrow window that matters most for their healthy development.
Coming Together is a Sesame-wide initiative that helps children grow up with a healthy self-identity and sense of belonging. We’re working to create a world where all children can reach their full potential—and do so in celebration of who they are. Our research-based, child-centered resources include the whole family, inviting caregivers, educators, and providers to help children celebrate their own unique identities and become upstanders for themselves and one another.
