THINGS YOU MIGHT SEE IN THE THEATER

DRESSING ROOM
Rooms in a theater provided for the actors in which they change costumes and apply make-up.
STAGE DOOR
Where the cast and crew enter the theater behind the stage.
OFFSTAGE
The area of the stage which the audience cannot see.
REHEARSAL
When the actors prepare before the show and practice what they are going to do onstage.
SCRIPT
All of the words that the actors will say or sing onstage during the show.
Set
All of the pieces that make it look like the show is taking place in a certain location.
Props
An object used onstage by an actor.
Costumes
The outfits and clothing the actors wear onstage.

THE PEOPLE AT THE THEATER

Cast
The people who perform in the show.
CHOREOGRAPHER
The person who creates dances and movements.
Set designer
The person who designs the set you see onstage.
CREW
All of the people who work together behind the scenes on the show. They work offstage.
Lighting Designer
The person who designs all of the lights for the show, and can make it look the stage very dark or very bright.
Costume Designer
The person who designs the costumes each actor wears on stage.
Director
The person who works with the cast, the crew, and the designers to make sure that the show is the best it can be and that everyone is working together as a team.
Stage Manager
The person who makes sure that everything for the show works and happens when it is supposed to. They work with the crew on turning on lights, playing music, and raising and lowering the curtain.
Sound Designer
The person who designs what the show will sound like, and if it should be super loud or super quiet.
Musical Director
The person who works with the musicians in the orchestra to make the music for the show, and then works with the cast to help them learn how to sing the songs.
